Harmony

Reflections
Once there were four travellers, a Greek, an Arab, a Persian and a Turk. Upon reaching a small town, they decided to get something to eat. As they had limited money they had only one choice to make. Each said he had the best food in the world in mind. When asked what that was, the Persian answered “angoor”, the Greek said “staphlion”, the Arab asked for “aneb” and Turk demanded “Uzum”. Unable to understand one another’s language, they began to argue. They kept quarreling among themselves, feeling more resentful and bitter with each passing minute, until a Sufi who happened to pass by interrupted them. With the money collected the Sufi bought a bunch of grapes. He then put the grapes in a container and pressed hard. He made…

Change of Seasons

Reflections
Nature’s way of letting go Surely as the seasons come and go, our life moves on in an eternal cycle. Holding on is not the nature's way. By being present to what is happening, nature is fully immersive in the flow of events. She changes her colours, sheds the unnecessary, waits and bides for her time and pushes through the new growth and new beginnings when the time is right. Nature gives us messages about our self and the world around us as we move through life. We only need to be open and look what is meant for us. Summer is on its way, and it will bring hot weather and temperatures will rise. Every time that happens, let’s remember that life just got warmer! Rejoice the Sun! Therapy…

Karma – The Supreme Teacher

Karma – The Supreme Teacher

Reflections
The Law of Cause & Effect which shines the light on our inner wisdom I would like to share something which we always think about but are never able to comprehend completely – KARMA. This understanding is crucial in therapy. I found this Lecture of Rudolf Steiner called “Facing Karma” delivered at Vienna in 1912 to be very apt. The following is an abridged and summarized version of the lecture, keeping almost all words intact with only minute editing. The language may appear rather formal, but I feel that the original words used have their own power and changing the tone would only dilute it. “It is often said very nonchalantly by most spiritual and wise people, that the only goal is to know oneself, and all that one has…

Dharma – The Universal Code of Conduct

Dharma – The Universal Code of Conduct

Reflections
The Cosmic Law which brings Peace and Harmony to our Society As I started my journey to understand the world around me, I was intrigued by the concept of Dharma. It is often used in Indian society and extensively in therapy albeit in many New-Age jargon. One of the talks by Niloofer Giri, a Vedanta Exponent and a Renaissance thinker brought a lot of light to it. This post is inspired from that talk. The first syllable of ‘Dharma’ comes from ‘Dhr’, a Sanskrit root word meaning ‘to hold’ or ‘to support’. Our world is full of rules and laws. There are laws like the gravitational law or the laws of planets and galaxies. Nature on earth also follows strict rules. This is how the Cosmos is supported. In our…

Samatva Sutra – Our Beliefs

Teachings & Learnings
Samatva - Concept of Equanimity. In the Ancient Indian language, Sanskrit, from where the word originates, the root of the word is ‘Sama’ meaning Equal or Even – and here we take this to mean ‘in equal consideration towards all human beings’.
